ABOUT OUR PRESCHOOL PROGRAM

WCELA is a childcare program for children ages 2 ½ to 5. We offer a half-day preschool program and a KDHE-licensed full-day childcare program that includes preschool. Both programs adhere to high standards under the administration of WCA and are licensed by KDHE. WCELA is regularly inspected by state and local health, fire, and licensing agencies to ensure compliance and safety.

Our program options include:

Half-Day Preschool (9-month program): Preschool-only program.
Full-Day Childcare + Preschool (12-month program): A full-day program that includes both childcare and preschool.

The age cutoff for preschool is determined by August 31st, in alignment with state standards. Children must be at least 3 years old to apply for the preschool program. However, children who turn 2 ½ during the year may apply for the full-day childcare program once they reach that age.

Children will remain in the same class for the entire school year. Transition to the next age group will occur at the start of the following school year: in August for the half-day preschool program, and in September for the full-day childcare + preschool program.

Classroom Philosophy

At WCELA, we focus on nurturing children’s natural curiosity and fostering learning through discovery and exploration. To reflect this theme, our classrooms are named with an emphasis on adventure and exploration. Classroom details are as follows:

Half Day Classrooms

We offer both three-day and five-day sessions. You can choose from a Monday through Friday format or a Tuesday through Thursday format. If you choose to pay yearly, discounted rates are available. For monthly payments, tuition is due by the 15th of each month, from August 15th to April 15th, unless an alternative payment schedule is arranged. To discuss an alternative payment plan, please contact the director or the office secretary. Any adjustments must be agreed upon by both parties when you sign your contract.

Tuition Options:

Option 1: Three Days a Week (T/W/TH)
- $150 per month for 9 months, or a one-time payment of $1,300 (discounted rate for yearly payment).

Option 2: Five Days a Week (M/T/W/TH/F)
- $250 per month for 9 months, or a one-time payment of $2,150 (discounted rate for yearly payment).

Class 1 – Seekers: Half-Day Preschool for 3-4 Year Olds (Morning)

Maximum ratio: 16 children per 2 lead teachers.
If enrollment is between 1-10 children, the class will have one lead teacher.
Class hours: 7:50 AM to 11:00 AM.

Class 2 – Adventurers: Half-Day Preschool for 4-5 Year Olds (Afternoon)

Maximum ratio: 18 children per 2 lead teachers.
If enrollment is between 1-12 children, the class will have one lead teacher.
Class hours: 12:20 PM to 3:30 PM.

Full Day Classrooms

Our full-day classrooms provide all-day childcare plus preschool for children ages 2 ½ to 5, Monday through Friday. Classrooms may be combined when fewer teachers are needed to maintain the ratio, typically during early mornings and late afternoons. The available care hours are from 7:00 AM to 5:45 PM, and you may choose your schedule within these hours. However, your child must arrive by 8:00 AM and depart no later than 5:45 PM.

Tuition for our full-day classrooms is $190 per week, regardless of how many days of care are needed. Payments are due in advance each Friday for the following week’s care. The first week’s tuition is due upon enrollment, and payments are due every Friday thereafter unless you agree to an alternative advance payment schedule. To discuss an alternative payment plan, please contact the director or the office secretary. Any adjustments must be agreed upon by both parties when you sign your contract.

We also accept DCF (Department of Children and Families) payments for childcare.
